A Bit About Us

Stag and Sparrow is a culmination of 10+ years of falling in love with adventurous people, the smallest of gestures, the deepest of laughs, the times you need just a bit longer to stare into the open, and leaning into the universe’s plans and saying “I’m ready for what you have for me”. It’s what lead us here to this and what led you here as well. We can’t wait to add you to that list of things we’re grateful for.

Where's Your Favorite Place You've Ever Been?: We tend to suffer from a hopeless romanticism towards whatever land we find ourselves in, it's part of our "live in the moment" mentality, but we'd be lying if we said we didn't play favorites when we're daydreaming at home about where to go next (or where to return to). If we're talking return trips, our two main loves are Iceland and Ireland! You'll find us bringing our trips to either country up whenever we reminisce about some of the moments that moved us most or the lands that took our breath away. Seriously, if you wanna get us nerding out and blabbering way more than we should - this is one of the big topics to hit (the others being animals - more specifically our 5 cats, music, or our favorite shows to binge in the background while we edit)!
How Long Have You Guys Been Doing This?: We actually started shooting professionally back in 2007, with our first brand (LunahZon Photography). We actually still work under that brand as well, but in 2017 we found ourselves wanting to push ourselves artistically. LunahZon had always been a bright, vibrant, colorful, whimsical thing. We, however, kept finding ourselves being drawn to some of the darker/moodier work from some of our peers abroad. The intimate and passionate storytelling we were seeing just held so much allure, but was not at all something that fit what we were doing. One day, while on a walk (it's where we do our best thinking), Debby asked what was stopping us from creating a new brand that could be anything we wanted it to be, to shake off the constraints we had built for ourselves and chase a new found passion - and that's how Stag and Sparrow was born.
Where Are Your Bucket List Locations?: The easy answer is 'everywhere we haven't been yet', but that's also the cheating answer. Currently our tippity top places we want to go are: Scotland, New Zealand, and Faroe Islands. Debby also says Italy for the food (see Debby's favorite things list below), but again - if given time, we'd name everywhere we haven't been yet!
Debby's Favorite Things: When I asked Debby what would be some fun things to tell you all about us and let you know us better, she wrote me a short list and said, "These are my 5 favorite things on any given day, in no exact order." So here are Debby's favorite things... on any given day... in no exact order:
Pizza
Chocolate
Fancy Cheese
Shiny Things
Traveling
She also said an honorable mention to "being cold at night while sleeping" and that myself and our cats should be a given and not on the list.
Favorite Mode of Transportation: In a perfect world, we love a proper road trip where we have time to make little random, small-town stop-offs and explore a place we'd otherwise have no business being in and likely will never see again. There's something weirdly exciting and romantic to me about being in a place that we'd never have even heard of if we hadn't taken a less traveled road and seen where it led. This is actually how we've explored Ireland our two trips and some of my favorite places were not ones we necessarily planned to hit far in advance, but decisions we made the morning of and found the most exquisite little soul-recharge-spots (like the holy well we found in The Burren - I felt more in touch with whatever's beyond this realm there than I had in any church we've stepped foot in). Added bonus - there's always random road games, Debby's "where did you come up with that" questions she somehow drums up, and awesome music to be enjoyed!
